New Years Resolution and how you can implement them!

- Posted on: 07/01/2021 -

Happy New Year from all of us Here at Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel!

We hope you have a safe and wonderful year!

Now that we have entered a new year and I'm sure many of us want to leave last year behind. We hear a lot about New Year's resolutions and what we can do to make our lives better and us happier from little things to large things, we usually  set them out at the start of the year. If you are struggling to choose what your resolution will be I have put a little list together, theres nothing too big on them, just all small things.

1. Be more Healthy

For 2021 I would like to intake more fruit and vegetables. My intake of vegetables isn't too bad but I would like to bring it up, and how I am doing this so far is experimenting with different foods and finding recipes that looking inciting and yummy to me but also have loads of nutritious foods. Now to come to fruit, I love fruit but am just so bad for eating it, I do it in phases I would eat a whole thing of grapes then maybe not eat fruit again for two days, which is not ideal. To over come this, I am now having smoothies every morning which are filled with goodness, I put berries in them, pineapple, mango, spinach, banana anything you can think of putting into a smoothie I have it in there. You can really experiment when coming to smoothies and try loads of different recipes. A tip when buying fruit for the smoothies is buy frozen, I have done this and the fruit lasts way longer and doesn't go off.

2. Spend more time outdoors

This is something a really need to work on, getting outside into the fresh air and going for a walk, run or whatever it may be. I fell getting outdoors is really important this year, especially when a lot of us are working from home for the month of January. I have made my goal to get outside and go for a walk for at least 30 minutes a day. I find it easiest to go first thing in the morning or just after I am finished my shift at work. Once outside you will feel really good in yourself and I am so glad I put this on my list of resolutions, as just 30 minutes outside does wonders for the mind.

These are just ideas that might interest you when planning your resolutions! Now let's talk about how you can stick to them!

Firstly, be realistic! Make sure your goals are attainable, Don't set out to jog 10k everyday when you have never even jogged before. Start walking every day and then bring yourself to a jog.

Plan. How do you plan on achieving your goal? Write out your plan and what you want to get done by then end of each week or even a new goal for each week! Think of ways to ensure you go for that walk, do the workout or even just make your bed in the morning, whatever your resolution may be!

Reward yourself! Make your New Year’s Resolution fun. If you are proud of yourself for sticking to your promise, at the end of the week reward yourself but make sure it doesn’t contradict your resolution.

Our last tip is to Keep Trying! Don’t give up! If you feel yourself not motivated or to your original resolution or it just doesn’t suit you anymore, don’t worry just make a new one! Don’t be too hard on yourself to stick to the same New Years Resolution, if you’re not feeling it anymore make a new one and try again!
