Housekeeping Manager

Return to Careers Page

Cork’s Vienna Woods Hotel is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Housekeeping Manager to lead our Housekeeping Department.

This is an exciting time to join the hotel as we continue to grow and expand our business. With this growth comes an increased focus on developing our teams, strengthening our operational standards and ensuring that we continue to deliver the high level of service our guests expect.

We are looking for a Housekeeping Manager who wants to be part of that journey – someone who will take real ownership of the department, lead from the front and help us develop our housekeeping operation as the hotel continues to grow.

What the role involves

As Housekeeping Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Housekeeping Department, including our guest bedrooms, public areas, linen and laundry operations.

This is a hands-on management position. You will be visible within the department, working alongside your team while also taking responsibility for planning, standards, staffing, training and the overall performance of the department.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, managing and motivating the housekeeping team on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring guest bedrooms and public areas are cleaned, maintained and presented to consistently high standards.
  • Carrying out regular bedroom and public-area inspections and following up on any issues identified.
  • Planning daily workloads based on occupancy, arrivals, departures and the operational needs of the hotel.
  • Preparing and managing departmental rosters and ensuring staffing levels are appropriate for business requirements.
  • Monitoring productivity and labour costs while maintaining the standards expected by the hotel.
  • Recruiting, onboarding, training and developing housekeeping team members.
  • Managing performance, attendance and day-to-day employee matters in conjunction with HR.
  • Developing and maintaining clear housekeeping procedures, checklists and SOPs.
  • Managing linen, laundry, cleaning products, guest supplies and departmental stock.
  • Monitoring stock levels, ordering appropriately and identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiencies.
  • Working closely with Reception to ensure bedrooms are inspected and released on time, particularly during busy arrival and departure periods.
  • Working with Maintenance to ensure faults and maintenance requirements are reported, prioritised and followed through.
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety requirements, including manual handling and the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Responding to housekeeping-related guest feedback and taking appropriate action where required.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve how the department operates as the hotel continues to grow.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is not only passionate about high housekeeping standards but who is also a strong people manager and organiser.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Housekeeping Manager, Assistant Housekeeping Manager or in a similar senior housekeeping role within hospitality.
  • A strong understanding of hotel housekeeping operations and bedroom standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a genuine pride in presentation and cleanliness.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support and hold a team accountable.
  • Experience with staff rostering, workload planning and labour management.
  • The ability to train and develop employees and build a strong, reliable housekeeping team.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other hotel departments.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods.
  • A proactive mindset and an interest in improving systems, standards and efficiencies.

Why join Cork’s Vienna Woods Hotel?

The hotel is growing, and we want our people to grow with us.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the Housekeeping Department, develop their team and contribute to how the department evolves alongside the wider hotel.

If you are an experienced housekeeping professional looking for a role where you can take ownership, develop a team and be part of an exciting period of growth, we would love to hear from you.
