Crawford Art Gallery- Rembrandt in Print

The Crawford Art Gallery are delighted to be open for business again and to be welcoming new visitors. 

Their new event Rembrandt in Print will be open from the 17th of September 2021 to the 9th of January in 2022. 

More About Rembrandt in Print

Presented at Crawford Art Gallery for its only Irish dates, Rembrandt in Print comprises 50 of the finest works from the Ashmolean Museum’s world-class collection of etchings and drypoints by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669). 

Widely hailed as the greatest painter of the Dutch Golden Age, Rembrandt was also one of the most innovative and experimental printmakers of the seventeenth century. This internationally touring exhibition will present Rembrandt as an unrivalled storyteller through a selection of 50 outstanding prints dating from 1630 until the late 1650s. Displayed together for the first time, these works demonstrate Rembrandt’s inventive techniques and extraordinary skills. 

Rembrandt delighted in presenting everyday scenes and the exhibition includes intimate family studies, confronting life-drawn nudes, and carefully detailed characters observed on the streets of his native Leiden, including peasants, Ringball players and the repugnant Rat Catcher!

This exhibition has been organised by the Ashmolean Museum, University of Oxford.

 The exhibition is exclusive to Crawford art gallery in Ireland. It is a once in a lifetime chance to see the Dutch Masters work. These 50 exquisite, precious , original prints are almost 400 years old.

The exceptional exhibition is free to the public.

1) The Cork City Cycle Tour

A gently paced bike ride which explores Cork's intriguing history, its vibrant culture and reveals a few of Cork’s hidden secrets. During the tours, your guide will peel back the layers of time to reveal all of Cork’s charms. Cycle through colourful streets, city parks, and riverside pathways and discover the evolution of Cork from its beginnings as a Christian settlement to its time as a Viking stronghold and then as the centre of trade for an Empire.


  • Tour begins at 10:00 am Thursday to Sunday.
  • Duration of 3 hours.
  • Not suitable for children under 15 years.

 2) The Greenway Cycle Tour

The Greenway cycle tour is a leisurely cycle on a purpose-built cycle path. It follows a scenic route adjacent to Cork Harbour and on the disused Blackrock railway line.  During the tour you will witness the life and hear the storied history of Cork harbour, the second largest deep-water port in the world. The Harbour was once of the world’s largest export of Beef and Dairy products, it was the final port of call for the Titanic and it sheltered the American Navy in WW1. Today you can still see ships loading and offloading their cargo but you are as likely to witness locals out enjoying this natural amenity in theirs boats, kayaks and Sup’s.

  • Tour begins at 5 pm Thursday to Saturday.
  • Duration of 2.5 hours

The price of both of these tours is €45 per person and includes the cost of bikes, helmets and a fully guided tour.

Beyond the Glass Adventure Tours run with a minimum of 2 people to a maximum of 12 people. 


Cork City and Cork Day Tours

The Cork City Tours Coach Company have extended their tours due to popular demand, they now have two tours to offer to our guests which are the Cork City Sightseeing Tour and the Cork Day Tours. 

The Cork No.1 Tour Operator operated by Cronin's Coaches provide popular sightseeing tours taking in some of Cork's Best and most breath taking attractions. 

 The two tours on offer are the below. 

1) Cork City Sightseeing Tour 

Enjoy this open top bus tour that includes sights and attractions of Cork like the Shandon Bells, Cork City Gaol, the English Market, University Colle Cork and many many more.

  • Operates on Saturdays and Sundays during September 2021.  
  • Adult rate €15.00.
  • Departs from Stop 1 on Grand Parade (Bus stop at the library) at 9.30am, 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm and 3.30pm.

2) Cork Day Tour

This day trip visits Ireland's most South-Westerly point and shows the breath taking beauty that West Cork's coastline and attractions truly are. 

  • West Cork & Mizen Head day tour will operate on Saturdays only during September & October 2021
  • Departs from St. Patrick’s Quay, Bay 3 at Mary Elmes Bridge, the pedestrian and cycle bridge (no longer Alfred Street) at 9.00am (arrive for 8.45am)
  • Adult rate €35.00.
  • Pre-booking is essential.
