Live at The Marquee

Cork's Live at The Marquee made its debut back in 2005 at the Cork Showgrounds. It ran for two weeks from the end of June to the start of July. The idea behind Live at The Marquee was Cork was part of European Capital of Culture. Beach Boy Brian Wilson Launched the event and this was also his first ever appearance in Cork, which made it all the better. Along with Beach Boy Brian Wilson there was many other artist and performers at the marquee such as Van Morrison, Mc Fly, Christy Moore and Tommy Tiernan. Each act was a standout to themselves and to everyone who attended.

As it was such a success they organizers decided to run the event again in 2006, running for 2 weeks again with many artists booked in to perform such as Kanye West, Bob Dylan and Des Bishop. These were all huge names to have on board, and they all brought excited fans to the area.

In 2007 Live at The Marquee had a new home - THE DOCKLANDS - what a venue to move to located beside the river Lee and just a stones throw outside the city center. To kick off the venue with a bang, they had acts for everyone such as, Elton John, Cascada, 50 cent, Lionel Richie. These acts defiantly had the marquee rocking.

Down through the years the organizers of Live at The Marquee really have pulled out all the stops to bring big names to Cork.

Live at The Marquee 2020!

Live at The Marquee 2020 is just around the corner, with many acts announced so far such as Tom Jones, Des Bishop, Christy Moore and The Coronas.

2020 could also be the final year of Live at The Marquee, as the site was sold back in 2018 there is uncertainty about where they will move to. The new owners of the site plan to start developments at the end of the summer. So the question is where will they go or will they just end the long running event. It would be sad day if they were to announce the ending of Live at The Marquee as it has brought amazing acts to Cork throughout the years and lets not forget all the revenue it has brought to the city. We have a lot of thanks to give to Aiken Promotion for all the business they have brought and the amazing event they have put on throughout the years.
