Celebrating Two Decades of Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel

It is hard to believe, because in so many ways it feels like it was only yesterday.

When our family first started this journey at Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel 20 years ago, we were younger, probably a little more naive, and perhaps most importantly, brave enough to believe we could build something special here in the heart of Glanmire. Looking back, you need a little bit of all three; youth, naivety, and bravery, to take on something as challenging and rewarding as the hospitality business!

Twenty years sounds like a long time, but it really has gone in the blink of an eye. There have been incredible highs, plenty of challenges, and more than a few sleepless nights. Through it all, the one constant has always been people; our dedicated staff, our supportive suppliers, our wonderful Glanmire community, and, of course, the guests who have walked through our doors.

How Times Have Changed (And What Has Stayed the Same)

When we look back at where we started two decades ago, the world has changed enormously. The hospitality industry has evolved, technology has advanced, and our guests' expectations have shifted.

Yet, our core mission has never wavered: our ambition is to make Vienna Woods a place that people are proud to visit, proud to work in, and proud to recommend. We don't just provide rooms, food, or event spaces; we have had the absolute privilege of becoming a part of your family stories, celebrations, and cherished memories.

How We’ve Grown Over the Last 20 Years

If you walked through our doors twenty years ago, you would notice a few changes today! To accommodate our growing family of guests, we have continuously reinvested in our historic estate to blend modern comforts with our timeless woodland charm:

• We extended our bright and airy glassroom, completely rebuilt and expanded our ballroom to host your grandest celebrations, and transformed our old front entrance into a welcoming outdoor terrace area. More recently, we gave our reception, glassroom, and lounge areas a complete facelift with fresh paint, new carpets, and stylish new furniture.
• We built the magnificent JP suite for wedding couples and special gatherings, and most recently created Grá, our stunning outdoor wedding ceremony space nestled within our woodland surroundings.
• We significantly increased our bedroom capacity with the addition of our new 4th-floor wing, ensuring even more guests can enjoy a comfortable night away in Glanmire.

Looking Forward: The Next Chapter

While today is about looking back, we are very much looking forward, because we are not finished yet! Some of our most exciting chapters are still ahead of us as we continue to evolve while respecting everything that makes our 22-acre woodland estate so special.

• We are thrilled to be launching a brand-new restaurant next year, elevating our dining experience even further.
• Plans are underway to add two brand-new floors to the property, welcoming even more guests to our home.
• While we can't reveal all our secrets just yet, let's just say future guests can look forward to some wonderful new ways to unwind, rejuvenate, and indulge in pure tranquility during their stay...
