Beaches in Cork The advantage of Cork being located near the coast is that there is a wide variety of beautiful beaches to pick and choose from. Going to the beach in Ireland is a popular activity of the Irish people especially if the weather is good. The busiest days are Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holiday Mondays. When the weather is not so good you may easily have the entire beach to yourself. The three most popular beaches in Cork are: Garrettstown, Garryvoe and Inchydoney. Garrettstown beach Garrettstown beach is a large sand a stony blue flag beach. This beach is ideal for surfing. There is a nearby cliff walk which has fantastic views of the sea on a clear day. Parking: There is lots of parking on the beach front. Directions: From Fitzgearld's Vienna Woods turn right go to the Dunkettle roundabout; take the 2nd exit at the roundabout. Take the N27 the Dunkettle Interchange via Cork Airport. You will will pass through Riverstick, Belgooly, Kinsale and Ballinspittle. Ballinspittle is approximately 2 kilometers from Garretstown beach. Distance from Fitzgearlds Vienna Woods: 32.7 kilometres Time: 0 hour 28minutes Garryvoe beach Garryvoe beach is also a large sand and stony beach. This beach is a very popular beach and it is extremely busy on fine weekends. There is plentiful parking along the beach front. Garryvoe beach is located near the beautiful fishing village of Ballycotton. It is well worth passing through to take in the scenery, and tranquillity of Ballycottton. Directions: From Fitzgearld's Vienna Woods turn right go to the Dunkettle roundabout; take the 2nd exit at the roundabout. Take the N25 the Dunkettle Interchange via Midleton. You will pass through Castlemartry and Ladysbridge. Ladysbridge just 2 kilometers from Garryvoe beach. Inchdoney beach Inchdoney beach is a beautiful beach located 3 kilometers from the equally beautiful town of Clonakility. Inchdoney is a very large sandy beach Blue flag beach. Take the N27 the Dunkettle Interchange drive through the Jack Lynch tunnel via Wilton. Take the N71 via Bandon and Clonakilty.
